San Juan County Park
San Juan County Park is located on the Westside of San Juan Island overlooking Haro straight and Vancouver Island, Canada to the West. With over 12 acres and 20 campsites it has become a popular spot for hikers, bikers, and kayakers to camp. Campsites are around $20 per night and reservations are recommended. Driving directions to San Juan County Park from downtown Friday Harbor: Follow Spring Street ( the main drag of Friday harbor ) up and out of town. Take a left onto Douglas Road and continue on this road until you reach a 90° turn... take this turn to the right. At this point the road changes from Douglas Road into Bailer Hill Road. Continue on this road up and over the hill and along the coastline of San Juan Islands West side. You will pass Lime Kiln State Park on your left. Continue for approximately 2 miles and as you come down the hill you will see signs for San Juan County Park on your left hand side. The park is approximately 12 miles from Friday harbor or about 20 minutes.
Friday Harbor has two large grocery stores for stocking up on supplies... Roche Harbor also has a smaller market and Snug Harbor has a small shop with some food and camping supplies.
Snug Harbor is approximately 2 miles from the park. Roche Harbor is 9 miles, Lime Kiln State Park is 2 miles, English Camp is 4 miles, and American Camp is 12 miles.
Please note: there are no showers at San Juan County Park. However there are coin-operated showers at Roche Harbor Marina ( 9 miles away ) as well as at the Port of Friday Harbor Marina which is 12 miles away. It looks like the park might charge $10 extra to park your car overnight... I'm not sure about this so check with the park staff. You cannot rent any kayaks or boat craft from the park.
